June 26, 2020 • Marchando Por Los Niños / Free Our Kids In Cages (in Solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter) • Morgan Hill, CA • #AbolishICE
Hosted by community members from San José, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Salinas, Watsonville & more. The Aztec dancers are from all over the Bay Area and come together for events like this to lead their community in dance, harmony and prayer. The Brown Berets & other community lead organizations provided security.
The march ended outside an ICE regional office in Morgan Hill. It is not technically a detention center but people are brought here to be processed - and eventually sent to cages in other facilities throughout California and the country. It’s a little office across the street from the police station tucked away in the mountains of the South Bay. Racism is everywhere but Morgan Hill and other rural cities in this area are more racist than other diverse cities like San Fransisco or Oakland (Morgan Hill is only an hour south of these cities.)
