martin from reynosa

Chopped it up with Martin from Reynosa in downtown McAllen this morning. He was sitting on a bench outside this perfume store that he used to work at and I asked him if I could take his photo. He was a bit defensive at first wondering why tf I’d want to take a photo and I told him his fit looked Hard. He then got up and started Flexing on These Hoes and told me a bit about himself.

Martin is in his early 60s and has lived on the Texas side of the border for over 40 years, he crossed over when he was 17. He had a stroke 12 years ago and spent a good chunk of our conversation urging me to eat healthy even when it’s awkward with Mexican people (we love MEAT.) He mentioned working as a laborer across the country and knows how to do several trades. He even showed me a backyard deck made of concrete he recently finished at his home. There was a woman at the perfume store who he was friendly with and she jokingly said he was the Mario Almada of the 956 Lmao. I asked to take her photo but she declined.

I really enjoy talking to older people, you’d be surprised how much they talk and share about their lives if you just ask! & before anyone asks, he is not Strapped w a gun - it’s a phone and knife on his belt, he just poses like a savage pistolero.
